Title: "Sparse Grid Discontinuous Galerkin Methods for High-Dimensional PDEs"

Speaker: Dr. Yingda Cheng -  Department of Mathematics, University of South Carolina, Michigan State University

Abstract:

In this talk, we present sparse grid discontinuous Galerkin (DG) schemes for solving high-dimensional PDEs. We will discuss the construction of the scheme based on hierarchical tensor product finite element spaces, its properties and applications in elliptic and transport equations.

Bio:

Yingda Cheng received her Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics from Brown University in 2007. She was a postdoc fellow at UT-Austin during 2007-2011. She joined MSU as an assistant professor (2011-2016), and she has been associate professor of mathematics since 2016. She was a recipient of NSF Career award in 2015.
