Shinhan Shiu Received the 2024 Outstanding Faculty Award
The CMSE department received many big and exciting news this week, so let's kick things off first by congratulating Professor Shinhan Shiu for his achievement as the Recipient of the 2024 Outstanding Faculty Award. Dr. Shinhan Shiu is a computational plant biologist who specializes in utilizing machine learning to discover the complex relationship between genetic information and phenotypic traits. He had made headlines for being appointed as the Red Cedar Distinguished Professor back in April, and to regconized his efforts and expertise, MSU had granted him another award this year: The Outstanding Falculty Award.
The Outstanding Faculty Awards are made each year to members of the regular faculty for outstanding total service to the University. The nominations are based on teaching, advising, research, publications, art exhibitions, concert performances, committee work, public service including extension, continuing education and work with government agencies, or a combination of these activities. He is a 2024-2025 recipient alongside Prof. Christoph Adami and Prof. Dean Lee, each receiving up to $1000 in monetary award.
