Michael Murillo Received the 2024 Norman L. And Olga K. Fritz Excellence in Teaching Award

Our streak continues, and this time, Professor Michael Murillo is the star of the show, for his impressive work has landed him the 2024 Norman L. and Olga K. Fritz Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Murillo is a theoretical and computational physicist focusing on particle-based methods for simulating interacting systems of particles (molecular dynamics), fluids (smoothed-particle hydrodynamics) or people (agent-based modeling). His career began as a Director's Postdoctoral Fellow in the Theoretical Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), after which he was a staff scientist at LANL for many years. Prof. Murillo currently has a joint appointment here at MSU in the CMSE and CHEMS departments. 

The Norman L. and Olga K. Fritz Excellence in Teaching Award are open to teaching faculty of any rank, fixed term or tenure, and student input is a part of the selection process. Recipients must demonstrate these following ethics: Commitment to teaching the sciences, High educational standards, Superior classroom performance, Well-developed, organized and sequenced instruction, and many more. Prof. Murillo is the sole recipient of this award, and he will be granted $9000 for this achievement.
